A Merry Little Christmas
It was just before midnight on Dec. 14th when I got a notification for a direct message from Jessica Nathania on IG. We’d talked about collaborating before and she was excited to include me on her cover of “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas” with Jenntheredman. She gave me all the necessary info: demo, inspiration, budget, location, and then… a very tight timeline! We were going to shoot in less than 48 hours so I had to make quick work of preproduction to make this happen.
Jes and Jenn’s funky laidback cover of this Christmas classic inspired warm vibes and Christmas colors. I designed the set in Procreate and leaned on Jessica’s inspirations. When we got in the room, we staged the set with awesome gear from around the studio (Contrl Room in Allston, MA) including a vintage Rhodes, a Nord, and a Moog. I lit the scene with Neewer 660s and contrasted red and green lights on my Astera light drops to add some visual interest.
My mentor was kind enough to let me borrow his Sony FS5ii kit with the Sony PZ 18-105 f4 and I added my Tiffen BPM 1/8 on top. Edited in FCPX.
